Tom Hiddleston reflects on 15 years playing Loki in the MCU

Actor Tom Hiddleston reflected on his 15-year association with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) during his appearance at the Zurich Film Festival. Hiddleston expressed surprise at the longevity of his role as Loki, noting that he did not expect to play the character for such an extended period across multiple films and two seasons of the Disney+ series ‘Loki’.

He recalled early discussions with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who indicated that the ‘Thor’ film was merely the beginning of a larger interconnected franchise. Hiddleston also spoke about the immediate bond he formed with co-star Chris Hemsworth during the production of ‘Thor’, describing their shared excitement regarding the scale and resources of the project.

In addition to his Marvel career, Hiddleston discussed his work on the film ‘Tenzing’ and his transition between different styles of filmmaking, noting the contrast in scale between auteur-driven projects and the ‘larger than life’ productions of the MCU.
