Holland described the conversation with Sony executives as “very uncomfortable,” but cited Nolan’s reputation for efficient, practical filmmaking as a key factor in securing the schedule change.

The delay gave director Destin Daniel Cretton extra time to join the Spider‑Man project, which Holland believes resulted in a stronger, more ambitious film. Nolan’s production started on schedule and wrapped nine days early, allowing Holland to transition directly into Spider‑Man filming.
