Tom Holland endorses Owen Cooper as potential Spider‑Man successor

Tom Holland told Esquire UK that he believes Owen Cooper would be "awesome" to take over the Spider‑Man role. Holland, who has played Peter Parker since 2016, said Cooper’s talent – showcased in the Netflix series Adolescence and recognised with Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA awards – makes him a strong candidate for future films.

Holland explained he hopes to mentor the next actor in the same way Robert Downey Jr. guided him, and he may remain involved behind the scenes after stepping down as the lead. The upcoming Spider‑Man film, Brand New Day, is scheduled for release on 31 July 2026. In the interview, Holland also confirmed that he and co‑star Zendaya are secretly married.
