Tom Holland praises horror hit ‘Obsession’ as proof of cinema’s power

Actor Tom Holland praised Curry Barker’s horror thriller Obsession during a Spanish television interview, saying he “went to see it in a packed theatre. People were screaming, laughing, and crying. It was exactly what makes going to the movies so special.” He added that the film was “so well‑made, so entertaining, and the actors in it are fantastic.”

Obsession, made on a $750,000 budget, has become 2026’s biggest box‑office success in the genre, grossing about $332.4 million worldwide and breaking the previous independent‑horror record held by The Blair Witch Project. Focus Features purchased the rights at Toronto for a reported $14‑$15 million, and a sequel is already confirmed. Holland’s endorsement is expected to draw more viewers and underline the communal appeal of theatrical releases.
