Tom Holland reveals early‑cut criticism and succession plan for Spider‑Man
Tom Holland said that an early edit of Spider‑Man: Brand New Day, assembled from audience test‑screening notes, was "totally didn’t work" and that he, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon hated it. The team watched the version, rejected it and re‑worked the film before its theatrical release on 31 July 2026.
In the same promotional round Holland confirmed that a long‑standing plan exists to hand the Spider‑Man mantle to a new actor. He said the roadmap has been in development since the conclusion of Spider‑Man: No Way Home (2021) and named Owen Cooper, star of the series Adolescence, as the preferred successor.
