Tom Holland Discusses Passing Spider‑Man Torch Ahead of ‘Brand New Day’ Release
Actor Tom Holland said he would be “content swinging off into the sunset” when the time comes to hand the Spider‑Man mantle to a new hero, citing possibilities such as Miles Morales, Spider‑Gwen or Spider‑Woman. He likened the role of mentor to what Robert Downey Jr. did for him as Iron Man.
Holland revealed he has been more involved in story development for the upcoming film Spider‑Man: Brand New Day, meeting with writers every two weeks to pitch ideas. One early pitch, dubbed “Spider‑Puberty,” – asking what happens if Peter Parker loses control of his powers – was rejected, but its core concept influenced the final movie.
“Brand New Day,” scheduled for theatrical release on July 31 2026 (July 30 in Germany), will follow Peter Parker’s everyday life after the events of No Way Home, emphasizing his isolation and financial struggles while setting up a potential transition to a new generation of heroes.
