Tom Homan blames sanctuary states for shielding undocumented truck drivers
Border policy adviser Tom Homan argued that sanctuary cities and blue‑state policies are preventing federal agents from accessing DMV records, allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain commercial driver’s licenses. He said the Department of Homeland Security and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy have been removing thousands of illegal CDL holders, but progress is limited where state officials resist ICE and CBP access.
Homan highlighted a recent surge in ICE activity, noting a record of more than 10,000 arrests in five days and stressing that officials “can’t wait for them to commit another crime to find them.” He cited several high‑profile crashes involving undocumented truck drivers and accused Democratic leaders of ignoring the safety impact on American victims while protecting illegal migrants.
He urged continued legal action against sanctuary jurisdictions and pledged additional resources to increase arrests of both criminal and non‑criminal undocumented individuals.
