Tom Homan denies ICE plans to monitor polling stations during midterms

White House border czar Tom Homan has denied allegations that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intends to conduct enforcement sweeps at polling places during the upcoming midterm elections. Speaking on Fox News, Homan dismissed the claims as a “fear tactic” and an attempt to smear both the agency and the administration.

The denial follows a federal lawsuit filed by the City and County of Denver, alongside civil rights organizations including the League of United Latin American Citizens, UnidosUS, and Common Cause. The plaintiffs are seeking to prevent armed federal immigration officers from conducting enforcement actions at voting sites, citing an 1865 federal statute that restricts the presence of armed men at election locations.

This legal challenge comes amid heightened scrutiny of ICE operations under the current administration, particularly following a high-profile operation in Minneapolis that resulted in the deaths of two demonstrators.
