Tom Jones removed as permanent mentor from The Voice UK

Singer Tom Jones has announced that he is being removed as a permanent mentor from the British television program ‘The Voice UK’ against his wishes. The 86-year-old artist, who has been part of the show since its debut in 2012, stated on social media that the decision was made by ITV and that he was only recently informed.

Jones claimed the reason provided for his departure was financial difficulties related to insurance. He expressed disappointment regarding a proposed alternative, which would have involved a significantly reduced role where he would only make guest appearances rather than being involved from the start of the season.

While media reports have suggested the change is part of an effort to ‘refresh’ the show with a new panel of mentors, Jones maintains that he did not want to leave the program. Representatives from the show confirmed he will not be a permanent mentor for season 15, though they did not elaborate on the specific financial reasons cited by the singer.
