Tom Sachs creates unauthorized Chanel boutique replica in Manhattan

Artist Tom Sachs has created an unauthorized replica of a Chanel boutique at his studio in lower Manhattan. The installation features a sign with the address ‘31 Rue Cambon’ and displays Chanel-esque ensembles in its windows.

A spokesperson for Chanel stated that the company is not involved in the project, did not participate in its development, and has no affiliation with the installation. Sachs’ work often critiques consumerism, materialism, and logomania.

The faux boutique is scheduled to run through October 10 with limited operating hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
