Tom Savini's childhood home damaged in Pittsburgh fire
Horror film legend and special effects artist Tom Savini is 'devastated' after a fire struck his childhood home in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh on Friday, August 15.
Savini, 79, and his wife Jodii escaped the blaze without injury. While firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before the entire structure was lost, the property sustained significant damage. The residence held deep generational ties for the actor, having been passed down from his grandfather to his father and then to Savini.
Footage from the scene showed thick black smoke rising from the property as emergency crews worked to contain the fire. Savini is widely recognized for his influential work in horror cinema, including his contributions to George A. Romero films such as 'Dawn of the Dead'.
