Tom Starling signs three-year deal with St Helens

St Helens have confirmed the signing of Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling on a three-year contract ahead of the 2027 season. The 28-year-old Australian joins the club as its fourth new signing under coach Kevin Walters, following the arrivals of Christian Tuilpulotu, Solomona Faataape, and Sean O’Sullivan.

Starling, who made his NRL debut with the Newcastle Knights in 2018, has spent the last eight seasons with the Canberra Raiders, making over 150 appearances. His move to the Super League follows a release from his contract with the Raiders, which was originally set to run until the end of 2027.

While the signing strengthens the squad, it presents a quota management challenge for Walters, as Starling becomes the fourth international recruit in a squad already nearing the maximum number of allowed quota players.
