Tomáš Taraba launches new political party in Slovakia
Tomáš Taraba, a former Minister of Environment and Member of Parliament, has launched a new political party named ‘Taraba – Rozvoj Slovenska’ (Taraba – Development of Slovakia). The initiative has officially begun a nationwide signature collection process, aiming to gather the 10,000 required signatures for registration with the Ministry of Interior.
Taraba’s core platform focuses on strong economic growth, a robust social state, the strengthening of regional development, and the protection of traditional values. He stated that politics must return to delivering results for citizens rather than engaging in petty partisan disputes. The party aims to decentralize decision-making by empowering local governments.
Key collaborators in the new movement include former Hlas-SD member Peter Slyško, former Republika official Marek Géci, and several experts such as Juraj Moravčík and Peter Molda. While some commentators question the novelty of the party's program, Taraba intends to leverage his personal brand to influence the political landscape, potentially acting as an independent force within the parliament.
