Tom Tiffany campaigns on farmland protection in Wisconsin

Republican gubernatorial candidate and Congressman Tom Tiffany is campaigning across Wisconsin with a focus on protecting farmland from wind farms, solar fields, and data centers. During a tour in Marathon City, Tiffany pledged to ensure farmland remains dedicated to agriculture rather than becoming ‘America’s data land.’ He proposed eliminating taxpayer-funded subsidies for wind and solar projects and advocated for returning local control over renewable energy projects, which are currently regulated by the state’s Public Service Commission.

Regarding data centers, Tiffany stated he would only permit their development if they do not increase electricity rates, do not utilize non-disclosure agreements, are not built on farmland, and receive no subsidies. During a campaign event in Superior, Tiffany criticized opponent David Crowley’s position on corporate subsidies.

Additionally, Michael Alfonso, a candidate for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, joined Tiffany to discuss economic affordability and fiscal conservatism as solutions to rising costs for housing and employment.
