Tomé to host Chilean Music Day tribute to Cecilia Pantoja

The 2026 celebration of Chilean Music Day will feature a special tribute to singer Cecilia Pantoja, known as ‘La Incomparable’. While the holiday, established by law on October 4, traditionally commemorates the birth of Violeta Parra, the National Music Promotion Council has decided to use the occasion to highlight other significant figures in national music, starting with Cecilia.

The central event will take place on October 4 in Tomé, Cecilia’s birthplace, featuring a free concert with performances by Nicole, Los Ramblers, and local bands. The festivities will extend throughout October with various musical activities across Chile.

Additional scheduled events include the broadcast of the film ‘Cecilia, la incomparable’ on TVN on September 26, and a ‘Piano Rural’ project in Santiago on October 2 involving 52 pianos played by youth from the O’Higgins Region. The SCD has also confirmed celebrations in Coquimbo, Santiago, and Valparaíso.
