Tom Van de Weghe to open lecture series in Erpe-Mere

Journalist and documentary maker Tom Van de Weghe will kick off the new edition of the ‘Stemmen in Steenberg’ lecture series at the Erpe-Mere library on October 26, 2026. His lecture, titled ‘Terug naar China’ (Back to China), will examine the country's evolution over the past twenty years, focusing on its growing economic, technological, and geopolitical influence, as well as its impact on Belgium and Europe.

The lecture series, a cultural staple in the municipality since 2008, includes several other upcoming speakers. The scheduled program features Sien Demuynck discussing the Gauls, Barend Cochez on forensic investigation, and Stijn Ilsen on the future of space travel.
