Tomanović Law Office condemns publication of student audio recordings

The Tomanović Law Office has issued a statement regarding the publication of an audio recording of students' conversations in a cafe by the tabloid Informer. The law office characterized the incident as a joint effort between Informer and parts of state authorities to attack the rights of young people.

The firm called upon the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade to explain why portions of prosecutorial files were released to a propaganda outlet in an audio format that lacks any opportunity for defense. The statement warned that the surveillance and publication of such materials pose a direct threat to the safety of students and represent a dangerous social effect similar to historical totalitarian practices.

Informer claimed the recording of the alleged student meeting in Novi Sad was obtained by its own ‘surveillance intelligence service’. Meanwhile, investigative journalists from KRIK have noted that Informer editor-in-chief Dragan Vučićević has claimed in court that he receives confidential information directly from the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA).
