Tomar approves plan for new business zone in Vale dos Ovos

The Tomar City Council has unanimously approved the start of a process to amend the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) to facilitate the creation of a new business zone in Vale dos Ovos. The project involves reclassifying rural land to establish an economic activity area covering approximately 38 hectares, though urban development may be limited to 17 hectares due to National Ecological Reserve (REN) restrictions.

Mayor Tiago Carrão stated that the initiative aims to create conditions for installing new companies within the municipality using a streamlined legal mechanism. The proposed site offers access to the National Road 113 and the Complementary Itinerary 9, situated near the Fátima – Chão de Maçãs railway station. The process now moves forward for evaluation by the Commission for Regional Coordination and Development (CCDR).
