Tomares garage fire forces evacuation of up to 300 residents
A large-scale garage fire in Tomares, Seville, led to the preventive evacuation of between 200 and 300 residents from three residential blocks in the Plaza de las Nieves area. The incident began around 16:30 on Monday, reportedly starting from a motorcycle before spreading to other parked vehicles.
The fire, located in an underground level beneath four seven-story buildings, destroyed five cars and three motorcycles. Emergency response teams included firefighters from Mairena del Aljarafe, Santiponce, Sanlúcar la Mayor, and La Rinconada, alongside the Guardia Civil and local police.
While three people were treated for minor issues at the scene, none required hospitalization. By late Monday night, residents of the first block were permitted to return home, but those in the second and third blocks were relocated to hotels or the homes of relatives as emergency services continued to inspect and secure the buildings.
