Tomas Sala grants players ownership of ShipShaper models

Independent game developer Tomas Sala, known for The Falconeer and Bulwark, has launched a new project called ShipShaper. The game provides a platform for players to design custom ships.

In a departure from industry trends regarding digital ownership, Sala has announced that players retain full rights to the models they create within the game. He is providing a free license that allows users to export their designs for use in personal hobby projects or commercial games. This includes the ability to use the models in software like Blender or for 3D printing. Sala stated that while he includes a legal clause prohibiting illegal use, he intends for creators to feel a true sense of ownership over their work.
