Tomas Švedkauskas says he nearly fainted in 5‑0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb

Kauno Žalgiris goalkeeper Tomas Švedkauskas described a difficult night at Maksimir Stadium, where his team was beaten 5‑0 by Dinamo Zagreb. Despite conceding five goals, Švedkauskas made several key saves and was among the better performers for the Lithuanian side.

He told reporters that the extreme heat – temperatures above 30 °C – caused him to feel light‑headed several times in the final minutes, saying, “I almost fainted; my vision darkened when I tried to shout.” He also mentioned a head‑butt on a goalpost during the first goal. Coach Željko Sopić praised Švedkauskas for his effort, noting he prevented at least two or three additional goals. Švedkauskas lamented the first goal, believing he could have saved it with a slight touch, but accepted the overall quality difference between the teams.
