Tomaso Tommasi di Vignano, the founding president of the Hera Group, has died in Rome at the age of 79. He was a prominent figure in Italian industry, having led the multiutility from its inception in 2002 until 2023.

Under his leadership, Hera Group grew from a collection of municipal companies in the Emilia-Romagna region into one of Italy's major industrial players in energy, environment, and water services. He also oversaw the company's successful stock market listing in 2003.

Before his tenure at Hera, Tommasi di Vignano held significant management roles at major national entities including Sip, Iritel, Stet, and Telecom Italia.
