Tomatoes may help reduce prostate cancer risk

Medical experts suggest that consuming tomatoes may help reduce the risk of prostate cancer. According to Dr. Harold Almonte, a urologist at Vithas Almería Hospital, the key component is lycopene, a natural red pigment and antioxidant found in tomatoes. Various studies indicate that a diet rich in lycopene is associated with a lower risk of developing the disease.

Nutritionist José Luis Esteller notes that tomatoes are highly nutritious, containing vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, as well as other carotenoids such as beta-carotene and lutein. Maintaining a healthy diet including whole grains, olive oil, fruits, and vegetables is considered crucial for prostate health alongside early detection.
