Support studio Electric Square posted on its official LinkedIn page that the remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider, titled Legacy of Atlantis, is still slated for a 2026 release. The announcement counters earlier speculation from insiders that the game had been pushed to 2027. Electric Square wrote, “Some legends are destined to be retold… Coming 2026,” and highlighted that the title will feature graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, modern gameplay and new surprises while honoring the classic.

Crystal Dynamics, the primary developer, has not publicly addressed the conflicting rumors, and the company is concurrently handling layoffs and the development of the upcoming main‑line entry Catalyst. The game is being built for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a possible trailer expected at Summer Game Fest 2026. Until an official date is confirmed, the 2026 window remains the most concrete information available.
