Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis gameplay preview showcases new exploration, puzzles and combat
A hands‑on session at Summer Game Fest displayed the first playable section of Tomb Raider : Legacy of Atlantis. Players are dropped into a reimagined Lost Valley in the Peruvian jungle, where they must solve environmental puzzles such as repositioning cogs to redirect water and open pathways. The demo highlighted adjustable difficulty settings that let players independently tune puzzle assistance and combat challenge.
The game runs on Unreal Engine 5, delivering detailed foliage, dynamic lighting and realistic water effects. New gameplay mechanics include a wrist‑mounted grapple, slower‑motion focus sequences and a combat system that rewards mobility. Alix Wilton Regan provides Lara Croft’s voice for the first time. Crystal Dynamics partnered with Flying Wild Hog to develop the title, aiming to retain the series’ classic sense of discovery while modernising its systems. The game is slated for release on 12 February 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
