Tomb Raider production violates UK workplace safety regulations

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has determined that Project Temple Productions Ltd, the company producing the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video, violated UK safety regulations during filming at Shinfield Studios.

The investigation found breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. Specifically, the production failed to conduct necessary biological monitoring while crew members were spraying paints containing isocyanates, a substance known to be a primary cause of occupational asthma.

According to HSE guidelines, appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn when using such substances, as fumes can persist in the air for up to 20 minutes. While actress Sophie Turner previously sustained an injury on set, the HSE investigation regarding these chemical safety violations is a separate matter. Following a notice from the HSE in April, the production company reportedly implemented the required corrective measures within a month.
