Tomb Raider series faces UK safety violations on set

The production of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios 'Tomb Raider' series, starring Sophie Turner, has faced multiple setbacks. Following a brief hiatus earlier this year due to a minor injury sustained by Turner, the production has been cited by the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for violating workplace safety regulations.

At Shinfield Studios, the production company, Project Temple Productions Ltd, was found to have breached the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002. The violations specifically concerned the use of isocyanate paints, which can cause occupational asthma. The HSE determined that the production failed to provide necessary biological monitoring for crew members exposed to the chemical mist during spraying.

An improvement notice was issued in April 2026, though reports indicate the company addressed the requirements within a month. While the safety breach is considered a rare occurrence for major UK television productions, it adds to the logistical challenges for the series, which is currently slated for a 2027 release on Prime Video.
