Spain: Local initiatives focus on heritage, urban renewal, and social support
Various Spanish municipalities and institutions are implementing diverse local initiatives focused on heritage preservation, urban improvement, and social support.
In Granada, the University of Granada has completed a restoration of the Renaissance Patio de los Mármoles at the Hospital Real, an investment of over 827,000 euros. In Tomelloso, works have begun to rehabilitate the roof of the historic Posada de los Portales. Meanwhile, the Ayuntamiento de Cuenca has approved 320,000 euros for the accessibility and urban renewal of Plaza de la Virgen de la Luz.
Social and economic measures include Marbella increasing social aid by 15% for 2027, Santander launching the ‘Vale+’ campaign with 46,000 vouchers to boost local commerce, and Villatoya hosting a social and solidarity economy fair. Additionally, the Bank of Spain is expanding public access to its historical and artistic heritage through a new visitation program in Madrid.
