Tomelloso Hospital secures funding for eosinophilic esophagitis research
The Hospital General de Tomelloso, through the Health Research Institute of Castilla-La Mancha (IDISCAM), has secured 75,000 euros in provisional funding from the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). The project aims to advance personalized treatments for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic inflammatory disease of the esophagus caused by the accumulation of eosinophils.
Led by Dr. Emilio José Laserna Mendieta of the EIMIRlab group, the study will utilize genetic analysis to predict how the disease evolves in individual patients. The research involves a collaborative effort with medical teams from the University Hospital of Cáceres, the University Hospital La Princesa in Madrid, and the University Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona.
