Tomelloso launches senior wellness program and virtual reality history project
The City Council of Tomelloso has launched several community and technological initiatives aimed at social engagement and heritage preservation.
The second phase of the ‘Active Aging’ program has begun, involving 125 residents over the age of 60. Managed by the Municipal Social Services Center, the program includes the ‘Mente en Forma’ cognitive stimulation workshop and the ‘Parque a Parque’ urban hiking activity. These initiatives are designed to promote healthy habits, physical and cognitive maintenance, and social interaction among the elderly.
Additionally, the city is introducing an immersive virtual reality experience titled ‘Tomelloso, 500 years of history.’ Funded by NextGenerationEU, the project allows users to explore five centuries of the city’s history through digital recreations of emblematic sites, such as the Plaza de España and the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady. The experience, which includes aerial drone footage and 3D modeling, will be available at the Posada de los Portales.
