Tomer Shadmy researches legal frameworks for digital communication

Professor Tomer Shadmy of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) is conducting research into digital order, the detection of disinformation, and the establishment of legal frameworks to protect users on social networks. Her work focuses on the social responsibility of major tech corporations, such as Google and Facebook, regarding human rights.

To address the social impacts of these large digital players, Shadmy has adopted an interdisciplinary approach. For over five years, she has collaborated with computer scientist Professor Katrina Ligett to bridge the gap between legal expertise and technological know-how. This partnership aims to combine the development and research of algorithms with methods to measure and improve their societal effects.
