Tomi Adeyemi vows to never adapt books to film again

Bestselling author Tomi Adeyemi has stated she will “never” allow her books to be adapted into films again following her traumatic experience with the production of ‘Children of Blood and Bone’.

In an interview with The Guardian, Adeyemi revealed that the adaptation process took a severe emotional and physical toll on her. She previously described the production as “the worst thing I have ever had to live through,” noting that she experienced panic attacks, hyperventilation, and somatic pain. While she declined to share specific details regarding the incidents on set, she noted that she felt compelled to speak out to move forward.

The film, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, features a prominent cast including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Regina King. The production also faced prior scrutiny regarding colorism in its casting choices.
