Tomi Adeyemi vows to avoid future film adaptations after traumatic experience
Author Tomi Adeyemi has stated she does not plan to watch the film adaptation of her debut novel, ‘Children of Blood and Bone’, and will not pursue film adaptations for her future works. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Adeyemi described the production process as ‘the worst thing I have ever had to live through’, noting that the experience left her hyperventilating, sobbing, and suffering from severe somatic pain and panic attacks.
While Adeyemi declined to provide specific details regarding the difficulties on set, she indicated that the journey of the trilogy and its adaptation was an overwhelming experience. The production, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, previously faced scrutiny regarding casting and colorism. Adeyemi is now focusing on her new novel, ‘The Siren’, which marks a departure from her previous literary universe.
