Tomiño auctions timber from 13 plots due to cleaning failures

The Tomiño City Council has launched a public auction for timber harvested from 13 different plots. This intervention was necessary because the responsible landowners failed to meet their legal obligations regarding land cleaning and biomass management.

The auction has a starting price of 13,222.97 euros, with interested companies and individuals able to submit bids until September 3. The timber, which consists primarily of pine, eucalyptus, and acacia, comes from parcels located in the parishes of Tomiño, San Salvador de Tebra, Santa María de Tebra, Forcadela, Pinzás, Goián, and Sobrada.

Mayor Sandra González stated that biomass management is a matter of both individual responsibility and collective security. She emphasized that the council's actions aim to reduce fire risks and protect people, homes, and the territory. The enforcement follows regulations established by the Galician Law 3/2007 for forest fire prevention and local municipal ordinances.
