Tomiño launches TOMILINGO program to send ten students to the UK for language immersion

The municipality of Tomiño (Concello de Tomiño) has opened applications for its new TOMILINGO programme, a two‑week English‑language immersion for ten secondary‑school students. Applications are accepted from 5 August to 17 August. Selected pupils, who must have completed 4.º de ESO with a minimum grade of 7 in English (or 6 with special educational needs), will travel to the United Kingdom in September, attending classes at an accredited British school, staying with host families, and taking part in cultural and educational activities.

The mayor, Sandra González, said the initiative aims to give young people “an experience that marks a before and after in their formation,” combining language learning with personal development, autonomy and cultural exposure. Selection will consider academic records, English grades, a personal interview and involvement in school or municipal activities. The programme is coordinated with the IES Antón Alonso Ríos and is funded by the Tomiño council.
