Tomio Okamura raises concerns over toilet paper availability in Czech trains

Tomio Okamura, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and leader of the SPD, has drawn attention for raising concerns regarding the lack of toilet paper in trains on the Podivín–Břeclav route. He reportedly informed government coalition partners about the issue and encouraged citizens to photograph toilet paper supplies in train restrooms.

Critics have noted the contrast between this focus and the political debate surrounding pension increases. While Okamura previously criticized former government policies for allegedly harming retirees, current discussions involve a proposed monthly increase of 300 CZK for pensioners by 2027, which is described as the smallest increase in a decade. Despite promises from the SPD to fight for higher pensions, the current political focus has shifted toward these hygiene concerns and other campaign promises, such as hosting an exhibition of the Terracotta Army.
