Japanese international defender Kenyo Tomiyasu, who has featured in two World Cups, joined Crystal Palace as a training player and made his unofficial debut on 31 July. He entered the preseason friendly against Saudi Arabia’s second‑division side Al‑Ula in the 62nd minute, wearing the number 29 and playing as a left centre‑back. Crystal Palace secured a 3‑1 victory, with Tomiyasu contributing passes that broke the opposition’s lines.

Local media gave Tomiyasu a four‑point rating out of ten, noting his technical ability and fitness after a five‑year injury spell.
