Vannacci’s Futuro Nazionale faces legal challenge and parliamentary expansion
Roberto Vannacci’s political movement, Futuro Nazionale, is facing legal and parliamentary shifts. The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has admitted an opposition filed by the association ‘Nazione Futura’. The association, led by Francesco Giubilei, claims there is a high risk of confusion between its name and symbol and those of Vannacci’s party. While the association calls for a name change, Vannacci has dismissed the claims, stating the EUIPO only declared the opposition admissible and not decided in his favor.
Simultaneously, Vannacci is expanding his parliamentary presence. Deputy Tommaso Calderone has officially left Forza Italia to join Futuro Nazionale. Calderone, a lawyer and Vice President of the Justice Commission, is the third deputy from Forza Italia to make the move. His defection brings the number of deputies in Vannacci’s component to nine, moving the group closer to the ten-member threshold required to be recognized as a formal political component within the Mixed Group.
Recent polling shows a slight decline for Futuro Nazionale, with support dropping to 7%, matching the current standing of Forza Italia.
