Tommy Caldwell delivers keynote at 30th Tahoe Summit

Professional climber Tommy Caldwell served as the keynote speaker for the 30th Tahoe Summit in Incline Village, Nevada. During his address, Caldwell shared personal stories of resilience, including surviving a hostage situation in Kyrgyzstan and overcoming a finger injury sustained in a table saw accident.

Caldwell, known for the first free climb of El Capitan’s Dawn Wall, used the platform to deliver an environmental message. He emphasized the human capacity to both destroy and restore nature, urging the audience to let the story of Lake Tahoe serve as a global reminder.

Beyond climbing, Caldwell is an active advocate for environmental conservation. He frequently works with organizations such as Protect Our Winters, the Wilderness Society, Access Fund, and the National Park Conservation Association to influence policy in Washington, D.C.
