Tommy-John Mustafa pleads guilty to dangerous driving after A52 crash

Tommy-John Mustafa, 25, has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice following a high-speed crash on Nottingham’s A52 Derby Road. On June 22, 2025, Mustafa lost control of his modified Toyota GT86 while attempting to navigate a right-hand bend at 85 mph in a 30 mph zone. The vehicle mounted the pavement and struck three young men—two on e-bikes and one on foot—resulting in multiple fractures.

Following the collision, Mustafa fled the burning wreckage and reported the vehicle as stolen. However, investigators tracked him and another driver from the scene. Evidence recovered from Mustafa’s mobile phone included videos recorded via his own smart glasses, which documented him driving at speeds of up to 130 mph on the M20 and 70 mph through built-up areas. Although no footage of the actual crash was found, damaged smart glasses were recovered from the vehicle. Mustafa also tested positive for alcohol following his arrest.
