Tommy Marqués transfers from Barcelona to SC Braga for €11 million

FC Barcelona midfielder Tommy Marqués is transferring to SC Braga for a fixed fee of €11 million. The 19-year-old academy graduate, who has spent over a decade in Barcelona's youth system, is traveling to Portugal to finalize the deal.

Despite interest from Ajax, Marqués chose the Braga project. As part of the agreement, Barcelona will retain a right of first refusal (derecho de tanteo) over the player, allowing the club to maintain some control over his future. This move aligns with a new strategy implemented by sporting director Deco to generate revenue from academy players who are unlikely to secure regular playing time in the first team while retaining future options.

Marqués, who made appearances for the first team under Hansi Flick last season, will join a squad that includes several Spanish players and is currently involved in the qualifying rounds of the Conference League.
