Tomoharu Shoji addresses emergency hospitalization

Comedian Tomoharu Shoji, of the duo Shinagawa Shoji, recently addressed concerns regarding a medical emergency that resulted in his hospitalization. Shoji revealed on his YouTube channel and during an appearance on ‘SUNDAY Break.’ that the incident occurred approximately two months ago in July.

The emergency was triggered after Shoji took laxatives in preparation for a medical checkup. During the night, he experienced severe abdominal pain, numbness in his limbs, excessive sweating, and difficulty breathing. He reported collapsing in a hallway and feeling as though he might lose consciousness, leading him to call out to his wife, Miki Fujimoto, to call an ambulance.

Doctors attributed the episode to a disruption in the autonomic nervous system, though no specific disease was named. Shoji confirmed he has since recovered and is in good health. During his media appearances, he also humorously addressed public comments regarding why he called his wife ‘Miki-chan’ instead of her public persona ‘Mikitty,’ explaining that ‘Miki-chan’ is his private nickname for her.
