Religious festivals honor Virgin of Mercy in multiple regions

Various regions across Latin Europe and South America are preparing for religious festivities honoring the Virgin of Mercy (Virgen de la Merced) and other patron saints.

In Argentina, the town of Tomás Anchorena will hold its patronal festivals on September 27, featuring masses, cultural activities, and a pilgrimage involving cyclists and riders. In Tucumán, the Basilica of La Merced has scheduled a program from September 15 to 24, including a novena and a central procession.

In Spain, Jerez de la Frontera will celebrate its patron on September 24 with a solemn mass, a salt carpet ceremony, and a traditional procession through the city streets. Meanwhile, in Ecuador, Portoviejo is organizing a musical serenade to the Virgin of Mercy at the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Merced.

In Italy, the Sanctuary of Montenero will host celebrations for Nuestra Señora della Mercede from September 24 to 27, including a Eucharistic procession and a blessing of the two gulfs.
