Tomás Aranda undergoes successful surgery after fibula fracture

Boca Juniors midfielder Tomás Aranda underwent successful surgery following a serious injury sustained during training. The 19-year-old suffered a right fibula fracture and a syndesmosis injury after his foot became caught in the turf during a routine exercise.

Aranda has been discharged from the hospital to begin a lengthy rehabilitation process. Medical estimates suggest he will be sidelined for approximately four to six months, likely missing the remainder of the current season and aiming for a return during the 2027 pre-season.

To address his absence, coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena is considering internal options, primarily Alan Velasco and Reserve player Lautaro Bianco. The club is also exploring the possibility of requesting an extra transfer slot from the AFA due to the severity of the injury. Additionally, striker Adam Bareiro has also opted for surgery to address a lumbar issue, which will also keep him out for the remainder of the year.
