Tomás Etcheverry knocked out in first round of Washington ATP 500

Argentinian tennis player Tomás Etcheverry, the sole Argentine in the main draw, lost his opening match at the ATP 500 tournament in Washington. He was defeated by United States No. 33 Brandon Nakashima 6‑3, 6‑4 in a contest that lasted 1 hour 22 minutes. Etcheverry struggled with his serve on the hard court, producing only one break‑point chance, while Nakashima dominated with an 81 % first‑serve point rate and a perfect three‑for‑three record on break points.
