Toms Samauskis qualifies for World U20 discus final with national record

Latvian discus thrower Toms Samauskis has qualified for the final at the World U20 Championships in Oregon. During the qualification round, Samauskis achieved a throw of 60.61 meters, setting a new Latvian U20 national record and surpassing the required qualifying distance of 60.50 meters.

In other results from the competition, Ksenija Kozlova finished 23rd in her 400m hurdles semifinal with a time of 59.81 seconds. Other Latvian participants included Brenda Džiliana Apsīte in triple jump, Nikola Bunde and Adriana Reitmane in heptathlon, and Emīls Lamba in the 400m sprint. The discus final is scheduled for August 9.
