TomTom launches screenless road hazard alert device

New road hazard alert devices, such as the ‘Tom by TomTom’ launched in autumn 2025, are emerging as alternatives to traditional GPS and subscription-based alert systems. The Tom is a small, screenless black box designed to be discreetly mounted on a dashboard or windshield.

Unlike many competitors that require expensive subscriptions or SIM cards, the Tom operates via Bluetooth connection to a smartphone application. This allows users to receive alerts regarding speed cameras, road hazards, slowdowns, and traffic jams without ongoing fees. Similar devices, such as those from Ooono, follow a comparable principle of providing real-time driver assistance through smartphone integration.
