TomTom to cut 200 jobs and restructure around AI
Dutch mapping specialist TomTom has announced a global reorganization involving the elimination of approximately 200 positions, representing about 6% of its workforce. The restructuring aims to generate annual savings of roughly 21 million euros following a 6% decline in third-quarter revenue, which fell to 129 million euros.
CEO Mike Schoofs stated the move is intended to make the company “more focused, faster, and more scalable” by reducing hierarchical levels. The company will reorganize into three core divisions: Automated Driving, Location Intelligence, and Navigation.
The strategic shift places a heavy emphasis on artificial intelligence to drive future growth. This includes expanding collaborations with Microsoft to allow intelligent agents to utilize TomTom’s location data, as well as providing services compatible with Claude to open its mapping data to autonomous assistants.
