San Pedro Cholula political race intensifies ahead of 2027 elections

Political activity is intensifying in San Pedro Cholula ahead of the 2027 elections. Current Mayor Tonantzin Fernández Díaz, representing Morena, delivered her second government report, where she expressed interest in seeking reelection. She noted that her administration has focused on security, public works, and financial stability, including the repayment of 20 million pesos in inherited debt and the implementation of social programs like 'Mujeres Heroínas'. While she has not yet officially registered for the internal party process, she is evaluating the Morena call for candidates.

In the Morena party, councilman Raymundo Cuatli Martínez has officially registered to participate in the internal process to lead the Committee for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty in San Andrés Cholula. To pursue this, Cuatli stepped down from his position at the Region 1 Welfare Delegation.

Competition is also heating up within the PAN party for the San Pedro Cholula mayoralty. Three profiles have emerged: Roxana Luna Porquillo, a former candidate from the 2024 elections; Óscar Isauro López, who recently joined the party from Movimiento Ciudadano; and Alejandro Gómez López, a current PAN councilman.
