Tondela Municipality to invest €1 million in Tabuaça bridge widening
The Tondela City Council has launched a public tender to widen the Tabuaça bridge, which spans the Criz river. The project, estimated to cost approximately one million euros, aims to connect the parishes of Campo de Besteiros and Vilar de Besteiros.
Currently, the bridge features only a single lane, preventing two-way traffic. The expansion will allow two vehicles to pass through simultaneously. Tondela Mayor Carla Antunes Borges noted that Vilar de Besteiros is a key area for economic development due to its proximity to the Lajedo Industrial Zone.
Preparatory work has already begun, including the removal of earth near the bridge to improve driver visibility on Municipal Road 628 and reduce accident risks. A local landowner has provided land for the project free of charge.
